Patient Self Care After Fillings and Crowns
After routine dental fillings or crowns, the tooth in question can be used immediately for eating. Hard, soft, hot, or cold drinks can be consumed without an issue. Take extra precaution if you are eating while still numb to avoid accidentally biting the area, such as you lip, cheek, or tongue.
Teeth that have just been treated may become sensitive within the first 48 hours. This usually subsides over the following days to weeks, but note that in extreme cases, a tooth can be sensitive for up to 90 days following the procedure. If pain persists after the 90 days or worsens, please contact a member of our team.
It is important that the treatment performed fits seamlessly into your unique bite. This is sometimes difficult to do when your jaw is numb and you have held your mouth open for a long period of time. Once the numbing has worn off, if you feel that your bite doesn’t fit the same or is uncomfortable, your bite may require further fine-tuning. Please contact our team for a bit of refinement.
