How it works:
Step1: Make sure your denture fits properly (e.g. relined as needed, denture teeth aren’t too worn)
Step 2: Scan your denture and create a digital version of it that is stored on our secured server
Step 3: In the event of loss or mishap, we can print a duplicate of the denture using our 3D printer and resin. This denture will fit just like the one you lost or broke and can be ready in as few as 2 days. You wouldn’t even need to come in for a try-in!
Step 4: The resins that are available at this time for printing dentures, however, are not strong enough for long term use i.e. printed dentures are not as durable as lab fabricated ones. So while you’re using your emergency printed denture, we are also going to send the file to a lab and have them start fabricating a permanent denture out of acrylic for you. Once it’s ready, you’ll be able to set the emergency set aside for the next “Oops” moment, and carry on with the new set, as though nothing ever happened
Important note: This process is only available for acrylic dentures as we are not able to print metal dentures yet!
Frequently asked questions
Get a backup denture so you never have to worry. This backup denture will be the exact same as your ordered denture. A duplicate backup denture makes worrying about breakage a thing of the past.
Yes! Because we are printing an exact duplicate, it should feel the same as the denture that we scanned. Pro tip: it is a great idea to scan the denture after routine maintenance, like relines, so we’re backing up the most comfortable version of the denture
Yes! But designed for short-medium term use. The are functional, but the materials available at this point in time for printing are not as durable as the materials used in labs. As an emergency denture, the printed version will certainly get you through any social situation until the permanent ones are ready!
The replacement denture will be the same as the one that was scanned. So if that one felt great, then the replacement should feel the same. If you needed adjustments after the scan, then the replacement denture will also need adjustments.
In as few as 2 days. While there are fewer steps involved than fabricating a conventional denture, there is still some lab work that needs to be done. We aim to have the emergency replacement denture in as few as 2 days, but we may need up to 3 or 4.
