Dr. Mathieu “Mat” Laforge Savoie is passionate about delivering comprehensive, patient-centred dental care grounded in both advanced training and genuine connection.

He completed his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Ottawa before earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine from McGill University in 2016. Following graduation, Dr. Mat pursued a highly competitive one-year residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, where he refined his skills in dental surgery, treating medically complex patients, and managing dental emergencies in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Committed to continuous growth, Dr. Mat has pursued advanced education through the renowned Kois Institute and is proud to be a Kois graduate. His dedication to excellence has also led him to take on a teaching role as a Clinical Instructor and faculty member at the Timax Implant Institute in Kitchener-Waterloo, a proudly Canadian-owned and operated centre for advanced implant education. Through this role, he helps mentor and train fellow dentists in surgical and implant techniques.

Dr. Mat’s clinical focus includes surgical and implant dentistry, with a strong emphasis on the connection between oral health and overall well-being. He believes in creating personalized, comprehensive treatment plans that support long-term health, function, and confidence.

His professional philosophy aligned perfectly with the patient-first approach at Smyl Dentistry, where he works alongside Dr. Yiu and the team to deliver high-quality, collaborative care in a welcoming environment.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Mat enjoys staying active with hockey and golf, exploring his love of cooking, and travelling. Above all, he values time with his growing family: his wife Katherine, their dog Pippa, and their two daughters, Remy and Cora, the newest addition to the family.
