Replace Gaps Caused by Missing Teeth

A dental bridge is a reliable solution for replacing one to three missing teeth and restoring the function and appearance of your smile. The bridge consists of one or more artificial teeth that are supported by neighbouring teeth, dental implants, or a combination of both. Permanently secured in place, dental bridges look natural and do not need to be removed for cleaning or while you sleep.

Replacing missing teeth is important for more than aesthetics. Gaps in your smile can affect your ability to chew comfortably and speak clearly. Over time, surrounding teeth may begin to shift into the empty space, which can lead to bite problems and other oral health concerns. A dental bridge helps maintain proper tooth alignment while restoring confidence in your smile.

The Long-Term Benefits of Dental Bridges

Missing teeth can affect your confidence, comfort, and overall oral health. A dental bridge does more than restore the appearance of your smile. It also helps protect your remaining teeth and supports the long-term health of your mouth. Here are some of the key benefits of choosing a dental bridge:

Comfort and Confidence

A dental bridge fills gaps in your smile, allowing you to eat, speak, and smile more comfortably. By replacing missing teeth with a secure, natural-looking restoration, you can regain confidence in your appearance and daily activities. With proper care, dental bridges can provide reliable results for many years.

Protecting Your Remaining Teeth

Each tooth plays an important role in maintaining proper alignment and bite function. When a tooth is lost, nearby teeth can gradually shift into the empty space. A dental bridge helps preserve alignment, supports a balanced bite, and may reduce the risk of issues such as uneven wear, gum disease, and jaw discomfort.

Supporting Jawbone Health

Tooth loss can contribute to changes in the surrounding bone and oral structures over time. By restoring stability to your smile and helping maintain proper function, a dental bridge can play an important role in preserving your overall oral health and supporting the structures that keep your smile strong.

A dental bridge is a durable and effective solution for restoring both the function and appearance of your smile.

Cost of a Dental Bridge in Toronto

The cost of a dental bridge depends on several factors, including the type of restoration required and your individual oral health needs. For patients with dental insurance, out-of-pocket costs often range from approximately $800 to $1,200 or more, depending on coverage. Without insurance, dental bridges typically start around $2,000 to $3,000 and may vary based on the complexity of treatment.

Several factors can influence the cost of a dental bridge, including:

  • The type of dental bridge and the materials used for the restoration
  • The number of missing teeth being replaced
  • The location of the missing tooth or teeth within the mouth
  • The condition of neighbouring teeth that will support the bridge
  • Additional treatments or procedures that may be required before placement
  • The technology, materials, and equipment used during treatment

Because every smile is unique, an accurate estimate can only be provided after a dental examination. During your consultation, we will assess your oral health, discuss your treatment options, and provide a detailed cost estimate. If you have dental insurance, our team can also help you understand your coverage and provide the information needed to determine your expected out-of-pocket expenses before treatment begins.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dental bridges and partial dentures are both effective solutions for replacing missing teeth, but they differ in how they are supported and worn. A dental bridge is a fixed restoration that is securely attached to neighbouring teeth or dental implants and remains in place permanently. A partial denture is a removable appliance that replaces one or more missing teeth using replacement teeth attached to a gum-coloured base. During your consultation, we can help determine which option best suits your oral health needs, lifestyle, and smile goals.

A cantilever dental bridge is used when there is only one healthy tooth available to support the replacement tooth. While this type of bridge may be suitable in certain situations, it is less commonly used today because it can place additional stress on the supporting tooth. For missing teeth in the back of the mouth, alternative tooth replacement options are often recommended to provide greater stability and long-term support.

Most dental bridges can be completed in just two visits to our office. Each appointment is typically under an hour, making dental bridges a convenient and efficient option for restoring missing teeth.

Dental bridges can be crafted from a variety of materials, including porcelain, metal alloys, or a combination of both. The most suitable material depends on the location of the bridge, functional needs, and aesthetic goals. In many cases, porcelain is a popular choice because it closely resembles the appearance of natural teeth and provides durable, natural-looking results.

Although dental bridges and crowns are both restorative treatments, they serve different purposes. A dental crown covers and protects a damaged or weakened tooth, helping restore its strength and appearance. A dental bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth by filling the gap and restoring your smile’s function and appearance.

No, a dental crown alone cannot replace a missing tooth. A crown is designed to cover and strengthen an existing tooth or attach to a dental implant. To replace a missing tooth, a crown must be supported by an implant, or another restoration such as a dental bridge may be recommended.

Yes, zirconia is one of the materials that can be used to create dental bridges. Known for its strength and natural appearance, zirconia is a popular option for many patients. During your consultation, we can discuss the available materials and recommend the best choice based on your smile, bite, and treatment goals.

Amazing experience and great patient care from start to finish as always. The team here at Smyl Bloor is amazing, always making sure to address concerns in a friendly yet professional manner. What was once a one-and-done visit for an opinion on teeth aligners, to actually having them done, had made me considered making them my go-to location for all my dental concerns and regular oral checkups. A huge shoutout to Dr. Yiu and Dr. Matt, technicians Shiva, Joana and Laura, and receptionists Taneshia and Andrea for making me feel welcome on every visit.

I can't recommend Smyl enough. I got all 4 wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Mat and Shiva. I would suggest to anyone that they are the best people to do it. They made me feel comfortable and safe. Answered any questions I had and explained everything clearly. I was anxious and they definitely helped ease my anxiety. Not to mention I felt absolutely nothing during the process and it was extremely quick. I also got the same treatment from Andrea at the front - she was patient with me and answered any questions I had. The whole team made a really anxiety inducing exprience feel easy and I felt taken care of and supported!

I had been struggling with a very serious dental infection for nearly a year, which unfortunately caused damage to my jawbone and left me in constant pain. Despite visiting several dentists, no one was able to properly diagnose the issue. Thankfully, I finally found an experienced and highly knowledgeable doctor who is truly up to date with modern dentistry. In just one session, all of my dental problems were addressed, and for the first time in a long time, I finally felt relief from the pain. I am incredibly grateful for the care and professionalism I received. The entire team was professional, kind, compassionate, and welcoming throughout the whole process. I sincerely appreciate everything they did for me and would especially like to thank Dr. Yiu and dear Shiva Jan from the bottom of my heart. I truly wish them continued health, happiness, and success.
